Washington Real Estate Salesperson (Broker) License Requirements

To become a salesperson (broker) in Washington, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Age: Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Education: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Coursework: Complete 90 hours of approved real estate education, which includes a 60-hour course in Real Estate Fundamentals and a 30-hour course in Real Estate Practices.

5 Steps to Obtain Your Real Estate License in Washington

  1. Complete Required Education: Enroll in and complete the 90 hours of pre-license education from an approved provider.
  2. Submit Application: Apply for the broker license through the Washington State Department of Licensing (DOL) online portal.
  3. Fingerprinting and Background Check: Schedule and complete a fingerprint background check through IdentoGO.
  4. Pass the Exam: Once your application is approved, schedule and pass the state and national broker exams through PSI.
  5. Obtain a License: After passing the exam and completing all requirements, you will be issued a real estate broker license.
