To become a salesperson in Texas, you must meet the following requirements:

• Age: Must be at least 18 years old.
• Education: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Coursework: Complete 180 hours of qualifying real estate courses, which includes:
  • 60 hours in Principles of Real Estate.
  • 30 hours in Law of Agency.
  • 30 hours in Law of Contracts.
  • 30 hours in Promulgated Contracts Forms.
  • 30 hours in Real Estate Finance

1. Complete Required Education: Finish the 180 hours of pre-license education from an approved provider.
2. Submit Fingerprints: Complete a fingerprint background check.
3. Pass the Exam: Schedule and pass the Texas Real Estate Salesperson Exam.
4. Find a Sponsoring Broker: Obtain a licensed Texas real estate broker to sponsor you.
5. Apply for the License: Submit your application along with proof of education, exam results, background check, and sponsorship details to the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC).
