Illinois Real Estate Salesperson License Requirements
To become a salesperson in Illinois, you must meet the following requirements:
- Age: Must be at least 18 years old.
- Education: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Coursework: Complete 75 hours of pre-license education, which includes:
- 60 hours of pre-license coursework on real estate principles and practices.
- 15 hours of interactive, situational coursework.

- Complete Required Education: Finish the 75 hours of pre-license education from an approved provider.
- Pass the Course Final Exam: Successfully pass the final exam for the pre-license course.
- Submit Application: Apply to take the Illinois Real Estate Salesperson Licensing Exam.
- Pass the Licensing Exam: Schedule and pass the Illinois Real Estate Salesperson Exam administered by PSI.
- Submit Fingerprints: Complete a fingerprint-based background check.
- Find a Sponsoring Broker: Affiliate with a licensed Illinois real estate broker.
- Submit Application for Licensure: Complete and submit your licensing application through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
