Colorado Real Estate License Requirements
To become a salesperson (broker) in Colorado, you must meet the following requirements:
- Age: Must be at least 18 years old.
- Education: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Coursework: Complete 168 hours of pre-license education, which includes:
- 48 hours in Real Estate Law and Practice.
- 48 hours in Colorado Contracts and Regulations.
- 8 hours in Trust Accounts and Recordkeeping.
- 8 hours in Current Legal Issues.
- 24 hours in Real Estate Closings.
- 32 hours in Practical Applications.
5 Steps to Obtain Your Real Estate License in Colorado
- Complete Required Education: Finish the 168 hours of pre-license education from an approved provider.
- Pass the Exams: Schedule and pass both the national and state portions of the Colorado Real Estate Broker’s Exam through PSI.
- Submit Fingerprints: Complete a fingerprint background check through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
- Obtain E&O Insurance: Acquire Errors and Omissions (E&O) insurance before applying for an active license.
- Apply for the License: Submit your application along with proof of education, exam results, background check, and insurance details to the Colorado Division of Real Estate.
