Alabama Real Estate Salesperson License Requirements

To become a salesperson in Alabama, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Age: Must be at least 19 years old.
  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident alien, or legally present in the U.S.
  • Education: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Residency: Must show proof of bona fide residency in any state in the U.S.
  • Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Prior Licensing: Must not have had any real estate application or license rejected or revoked from any state within the past 2 years.

6 Steps to Obtain Your Real Estate License in Alabama

  1. Complete Required Education: Finish 60 hours of pre-license education from an approved provider.
  2. Pass the Course Final Exam: Successfully pass the final exam for the pre-license course.
  3. Pass the Licensing Exam: Schedule and pass the Alabama Real Estate Salesperson Licensing Exam, which includes both national and state-specific sections.
  4. Find a Sponsoring Broker: Obtain a licensed Alabama real estate broker to sponsor your activities as a new agent.
  5. Submit Application: Complete your licensing application within 90 days of passing the exam, including proof of education, exam results, background check, and sponsorship details.
